Hi, I’m Triana Smith, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and I believe you don’t have to navigate life’s hardest seasons alone. Therapy can be a place to slow down, feel understood, and make sense of what you’ve been experiencing without fear of judgment.
I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, with particular interests in trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, identity, and major life transitions. With 3,500+ direct clinical hours, I’ve had the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and at many different stages of life.
I especially enjoy working with people who may feel disconnected from themselves, overwhelmed by life’s demands, or unsure of who they are or what comes next. I also work with individuals and couples navigating communication difficulties, relationship patterns, emotional disconnection, grief, or the impact of past experiences on their current relationships.
My background includes trauma-focused work, and I approach each client with curiosity, compassion, and respect for their individual story. I believe that even the parts of ourselves we may feel ashamed of, frustrated by, or wish we could change deserve to be understood rather than judged.
For clients who desire it, I also provide Christian, faith-integrated therapy. Faith can be a meaningful source of hope, identity, strength, and healing, and I’m happy to incorporate Christian beliefs, values, and spirituality into therapy when that is important to you. You never have to fit into a particular mold—our work will always be guided by your needs, values, and goals.

I’m Joanne Slatinsky, a mental health counselor in the State of Georgia and licensed as a Professional Counselor since 1987. I have had the privilege of counseling hundreds of people through my long career in mental health. I believe I have a calling for helping people during difficult times. I approach life and my work with my clients with compassion and understanding. I work with adult individuals and couples with a variety of issues and conflicts. I have experience in working with a wide range of concerns and mental health issues, but a few examples are anxiety, stress, depression, dealing with feelings, relationship issues, trauma including childhood trauma, narcicissism and narcissistic relationships and other difficult relationships, grief and dealing with change. I am married for 43 years and we have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. A little but about myself besides my profession. I am an African American woman from Detroit, MI. I am a wife and a mother. As a wife and mother, there are many challenges...multitasking, running a home, working, raising a family and many more. I know full well how challenging this can be. All this being said, I understand “Life” quite a bit. Given this opportunity, I can help guide and support you through your challenges to a more fulfilling and peaceful life through a variety of interventions such as EMDR, CBT, insight oriented and DBT modalities.
